I happen to be in the business of making great video content, but I’m always on the lookout for interesting trends or new information.
I came across an article in SocialMediatoday about how video will be influencing consumer decision making this year, despite the massive upheaval we are now experiencing throughout the world.
Video is still a major influencer in consumer purchasing decisions.
The article by Jess Rozario-Ospino, went on to list the key findings from a recent consumer survey.
· 93 percent of consumers said video was helpful when purchasing and was their favourite type of content.
· Facebook, Instagram and YouTube are the top three platforms consumers use to find new products and services.
· When learning about a new product or service, consumers prefer to look at a video rather than read about a product or look at photos.
Vertical videos are growing in popularity and are the preferred format for Instagram stories, Instagram reels and Facebook stories. They make content engaging and eye catching.
Of course, YouTube still favours long format and the 16 x 9 landscape look.
And one final piece of advice, whatever you do in video don’t wait to get your message across. Always begin with the best image or clip.
